Terms of use
1. Provider and scope
Fingerchord is offered by The Maker Academy, owner Maik Schuheida, Heidenburgstraße 6D, 70378 Stuttgart, Germany, VAT ID DE358997748, email hello@fingerchord.com ("we"). These terms apply to the Fingerchord app for iPhone, the web app at app.fingerchord.com and all purchases in them. Deviating terms of users do not apply.
2. What Fingerchord is
Fingerchord turns your camera into an instrument: hand gestures choose chords, and you can sing, record, edit and share videos. The basic features are free and work without an account. Additional features are available for a fee (section 4). We keep developing Fingerchord and may change, add or replace features as long as the agreed core of a purchased service remains. Hand tracking, voice processing and recordings run on your device. How well this works also depends on device, light and surroundings.
3. Account and age
You only need an account to use purchases on several devices, request songs, invite friends or use creator features. For an account and for purchases you must be at least 16 years old or have your parents' consent. Keep your login details secret. You can delete your account at any time in the app or at fingerchord.com/datenloeschung.
4. Paid services
- Pro (subscription, weekly, monthly or yearly): all sounds, songs and presets, the full editor and export without watermark.
- Producer Edition (subscription, weekly, monthly or yearly): everything in Pro, plus Fingerchord as a MIDI controller for your DAW.
- MIDI controller (one-time purchase): Fingerchord as a MIDI controller without Pro, permanently.
You see the current prices and contents in the app before you buy. All prices include statutory VAT.
5. Purchases in the App Store (iPhone)
If you buy in the iPhone app, you conclude the purchase contract with Apple. Apple's terms apply in addition. Apple handles billing, renews subscriptions and is responsible for refunds. You cancel subscriptions in your iPhone settings under your name → Subscriptions. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
6. Purchases in the web app
If you buy in the web app, the contract is concluded with us when you click the purchase button in the checkout. Payment is processed by the payment service Stripe; RevenueCat manages subscriptions on our behalf. You receive a confirmation by email.
- Term and renewal: A subscription runs for the chosen period (one week, one month or one year) and renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel before. The price is due at the start of each period.
- Trial: Monthly and yearly subscriptions include seven days free for new customers. If you do not cancel during this time, the paid subscription starts afterwards.
- Cancellation: You can cancel at any time effective at the end of the current period, in the web app with "Manage subscription", or informally by email to hello@fingerchord.com. Everything stays unlocked until the end of the paid period.
- One-time purchase: The MIDI controller is paid once and stays unlocked permanently.
A purchase in the web app also applies in the iPhone app when you are signed in with the same account, and vice versa.
7. Right of withdrawal
Consumers have a right of withdrawal for purchases in the web app. The details are in the withdrawal information. The right of withdrawal expires if, before the purchase, you expressly agree that we start providing the service immediately and confirm that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. For App Store purchases, Apple's rules apply.
8. Your content and usage rights
Your recordings and videos belong to you. They stay on your device until you share them yourself. You may use the sounds, chords and recordings created with Fingerchord in your own songs and videos, including commercially. You may not resell or pass on Fingerchord's own sounds or presets as a sample pack or in any other form.
For well-known songs, Fingerchord contains only chord progressions, no melodies, lyrics or original recordings. If you publish a cover, you are responsible for having the necessary rights, for example through the platform's licences or a collecting society.
9. Community and rules
In the community we show public videos from TikTok and Instagram. Please only submit videos that fit Fingerchord. Unlawful, insulting, discriminatory, sexual or violence-glorifying content and content that infringes third-party rights is prohibited. You can report any video. We may hide videos and block accounts that violate these rules.
You may not misuse Fingerchord: no circumvention of payment or security features, no automated mass requests, no interference with our servers.
10. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where we have given a guarantee. For slight negligence we are only liable for breach of an essential contractual obligation, that is an obligation whose fulfilment makes the performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may rely, and then limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. Otherwise liability is excluded. Your statutory rights in case of defects of digital products remain unaffected.
11. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms with effect for the future if there is a valid reason, for example new features or a changed legal situation. We inform you of material changes for running subscriptions at least four weeks in advance. You can then cancel effective on the date the changes take effect.
12. Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country remain unaffected. We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If a provision is invalid, the rest remains valid.
The German version of these terms is binding; this English version is provided for convenience.
